New World China Land Wins “Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award”

(31 March 2016 – Hong Kong) New World China Land (“NWCL”; Hong Kong Stock Code: 00917) won the “Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award” organised by “The Mirror” Magazine. In the meantime, Mr Peter Cheng, Executive Director of NWCL was honored with the “Award of Outstanding Entrepreneur in Corporate Social Responsibility”.?

Organised by “The Mirror” Magazine, the “Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award” has entered into its fifth year. The Award goes to corporations with excellent performance in corporate social responsibility, with the judging panel judging the entries based on obligations towards shareholders, commitment to customers, environmental protection, community relations, leadership and caring for staff and family.?

As a sustainable corporation, NWCL is committed to promoting environmental protection while creating long-term value for shareholders and listening to the voice of customers. In 2014, NWCL introduced Green Building Design Guidelines to provide guidance and recommendations on green design features, material selection and best construction practice. NWCL also mitigates water use, reduces waste and reuses rock and other materials from initial demolition and excavation, minimising the potential environmental impacts of NWCL’s projects as far as practicable. As at 30 June 2015, 12 projects of NWCL have attained LEED Gold Certification or Pre-certification.?

In terms of community relations, NWCL gives back to society through charitable donation and sponsorship. NWCL organises community activities that promote appreciation of arts and culture while joining hands with an international charitable organisation to launch farmhouse rebuild programme for impoverished families in Mainland China. Setting up New World Volunteer Team, the first developer’s corporate volunteer team in Mainland China, NWCL provides care and support to the disadvantaged groups in society. In addition, NWCL has developed a Supplier Code of Conduct to provide suppliers with guidance on sustainable issues while providing its staff with conducive work environment and comprehensive training programmes. This year, a total of 50 corporations and SMEs won the “Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award” while three entrepreneurs were honored with the “Award of Outstanding Entrepreneur in Corporate Social Responsibility”.?
